I first saw Festen last
year; my heart was thumping from start to finish, and I’ve seen it about four
or five times since. Perfectly constructed and masterfully executed, every
single element about this film contributes to the overall tapestry. In the vein
of Bergman, Vinterberg’s drama is proof that creativity wins out every time.
