Ingmar Bergman’s go-to
cinematographer on nearly every film from 1960’s The Virgin Spring onwards.
Nykvist was a minimalist shooter who let the image speak for itself,
contributing to the films he worked on (including The Unbearable Lightness Of
Being, Crimes And Misdemeanours and Chaplin) a naturalistic look. A wise,
masterful cameraman indeed.
