The masterpiece of one of
filmmaking’s true unsung heroes, James Whale’s Bride Of Frankenstein is to this
day a powerful work. Eschewing the (then) horror film conventions, it’s a
chaotic, early precursor of the horror-comedy full of Christian imagery and
edgy homoeroticism. Amidst this, the film has a genuine heart and emotionally
powerful core.
